  • Proven in Deepwater Horizon (GoMRI, NOAA): oil-degrading microbes did much of the cleanup.

  • Non-pathogenic: safe for people, wildlife, and ecosystems.

  • Adaptive: local microbial strains thrive in native conditions.

  • Regulated use: applied only under client permits & SOPs, with SDS provided.

Why Choose CBS

  • Integrity First — Independent, self-funded, acting with urgency not bureaucracy.

  • Nature-Based Technology — Harnessing microbes & halophytes instead of chemicals.

  • Speed with Substance — SLA-backed rapid response + long-term ESG outcomes.

  • Proof, Not Promises — Photo logs, KPIs, compliance-ready reports.

The Future of Microbes in Tackling PFAS

A game changer!

Around the world, scientists are beginning to uncover the potential of microbes to do what was once thought impossible — dismantle the so-called “forever chemicals” (PFAS) that contaminate soil and water. Most current approaches to PFAS simply trap or contain them, creating a new disposal problem. But recent breakthroughs suggest that certain naturally occurring bacteria may be able to break apart the exceptionally strong carbon-fluorine bonds that make PFAS so persistent.

One of the most promising discoveries comes from academic research showing that specific bacterial strains can slowly metabolize PFAS compounds and even reduce some of their toxic breakdown products. While these studies are still in early stages, they point toward a future where biology, not just chemistry or incineration, plays a role in cleaning up these difficult pollutants.

At Carbon Blue Solutions, we are closely monitoring these advances and engaging with partners in the field. Our focus today is on proven microbial technologies for organic and industrial waste, but we see microbial PFAS degradation as a potential frontier. As research progresses, we are committed to exploring safe, scalable pathways to bring these biological innovations into real-world water and waste treatment.
